3 Benefits of Using a Suspension Trainer

Lately, there has been a growing trend for suspension fitness training, and the TRX is at the center of it all. They have done a wonderful job of bringing suspension fitness training out into the world.

We've always assumed it's what gymnasts use to train, but boy were we wrong. These suspension straps are not only an amazing equipment to workout with, they have many key advantages that make it more superior to a pair of dumbbells.

That doesn't mean free weights don't have their place. When it comes to building muscle, mass and strength, free weights are the KING. The suspension training can be the next weapon in your arsenal to get out of those plateaus and add more dynamic movements to your workout for better overall results, be it fat loss, muscle gain, power, strength etc...

Let's get on to the 3 main benefits of suspension fitness training

1. Removes your excuse to skip a workout

This is our favorite. Remember those excuses,

It's too late to go to the gym now.
I have too much work to finish, no time for gym.
The gym is too crowded, I don't enjoy my workout.
The gym is too expensive.
The gym is too far.

We can go on with the multiple excuses one can come up with to skip a day of working out at the gym. That excuse won't work because the suspension straps are the best and cheapest home gym one can invest on.

Simply hang it on a bar, ceiling hook, or lock it behind a sturdy door. You now have the two most powerful equipment to workout with - the straps and your body-weight.

Combine both and you can build a body you never thought possible - except for the likes of John Cena, Batista or Dwayne Johnson - hehe.

2. Easily adjustable resistance

With the help of suspension straps, you can curl with a resistance of 8-10 reps or 20-25 reps. It all depends on your angle.

Your angle is the level of resistance. How simple is that?

It's resistance that develops muscles, triggers hypertrophy etc... These muscles in your body cannot differentiate between a free weight or a suspension strap. All it knows is resistance, tissue damage and repair.

Thanks to this, you can perform many different workouts with different combinations, thanks to the simple concept with suspension straps.

I could perform a reverse pyramid WITHOUT rest by simple adjusting the angle of the straps. It wouldn't even take 2 to 3 seconds to move onto the next set.

I could perform circuit training targeting the entire body with 12 to even 20 different exercises without having to stop for a break unless I have to.

The sheer simplicity is unbelievable.

Density training just entered a whole new level.

Do you have any types of training that a pair of suspension straps couldn't match - Except for Olympic and Powerlifts?

3. Easier on the joints

When it comes to joint health, nothing is more deadly than carrying a heavy weight above your shoulders, or trying to perform a dead-lift without proper firm. Trust me, I've injured my spine more times than I can count.

Lifting weights for too long can also damage your joints - you may not aware of it until you realize certain aches and pains you never felt before.
You may wonder how that's possible - especially since you've maintained a strong and progressive workout routine for years. You would have felt bulletproof until the pains started kicking in.

You are not alone.

The suspension straps do a better job in that area as the movements are dynamic and more natural for your joints and muscles to grow on.

I always take a break from free weights after 2 to 3 consecutive months of training - a month on the TRX does wonders for my joints. I feel stronger and recover better once I get back to free weights after the rejuvenating session with suspension straps.

Do you have other benefits that we haven't listed above? Would love to see your comments.
